If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts. (Psalm 94).
Today’s gospel is a lesson given by Jesus to his apostles. They ask Him to increase their faith. Jesus puts a damper on their expectations by telling them how little faith they had; not even the size of a mustard seed. Even their good works are suspect. They were only doing the minimum expected of them as servants.
Where, then, does that leave us? It leaves us in the dust of our own weakness and misery, looking to our beloved Saviour crying: “Your mercy, Lord, not your justice.”
