Lord, in your great love, answer me. (Psalm 68)
Today we see Jesus the Teacher, instructing the Twelve in the lessons they must proclaim to the world. Jesus introduces them (and us) into a new relationship with God: not a distant, almighty judge, but to Abba, a gentle, loving, intimately present, Father.
Our Christian faith centres on this relationship. It is not a collection of doctrine or dogmas or formulae, but a living friendship with a living, loving God to whom our individual lives and happiness matter greatly.
What is our part in this friendship? Our initiatives are a response to God’s call shared with every heart. “Behold, I stand at the door and knock.” Rev 3.20
God is with us; we must be with God.
