The Lord is my light and my help. (Psalm 26)
This week we hear Matthew’s account of the beginning of Jesus’ ministry and the call of his disciples. These are both defining moments in his public life. Upon hearing of John the Baptist’s arrest, Jesus leaves his hometown of Nazareth and settles permanently in Galilee. He begins in earnest the serious work of preaching the Good News.
Archaeologists have discovered and restored Capernaum, so pilgrims can pray and adore at the very place where Jesus prayed.
We raise our voices with Him, in the words of the psalmist: The Lord is my light and my help.
