The Benedictines of the Monastery of the Immaculate Conception at Kylemore Abbey will be joined for the 12:15 Mass in the monastery chapel on Saturday, June 6, by the Piccolo Lasso children’s choir, the junior choir of Dublin Choral Foundation CLG, directed by Dr. Ite O’Donovan. The choir will lend their voices to the music for the Eucharistic celebration.
At 3:00 pm on that same afternoon, the Piccolo Lasso choir will perform in Ostyn Hall in the monastery, along with the Ballina and Mullingar Choristers.
The Mass is open to all, and the concert is free for all wishing to attend.
St. Muredach’s Cathedral Boys’ Choir was founded in 2023. The groups sings at Mass on a monthly basis, as well as special liturgies and annual events. Their directors are Regina Deacy and Marie Gilvarry.
Mullingar has a proud heritage of church music. The Cathedral Choristors have been enhancing the liturgies and spiritual life of the diocese for decades. The establishment of a girls’ chorister group in May 2024 is an exciting development for sacred performance in the cathedral. The choirs draw on numerous music traditions, from congregational singing to traditional and contemporary choral pieces in Irish, English, and Latin.
