On Thursday afternoon, Fr. Robert Dowd, CSC, president of the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, visited the Benedictine community at the Monastery of the Immaculate Conception with members of his family, while spending time at Notre Dame’s Global Centre on the Kylemore grounds. Fr. Dowd brought gifts for the community members, and Mother Karol presented him with copies of the Magnificat recording by Patrick Cassidy and the book “The Benedictine Nuns & Kylemore Abbey: A History” by Deirdre Raftery and Catherine KilBride before he paused to sign the monastery’s guest book.

Fr. Dowd commented on the marvelous partnership between the Benedictines at Kylemore Abbey and Notre Dame, grateful for the opportunity see that collaboration in action.

Fr. Dowd also concelebrated Mass in the monastery chapel with Fr. Boniface Hill, OSB, on the feast of St. Benedict, July 11.
