Benedictines Celebrate Season of Creation

Benedictines Celebrate Season of Creation

The Season of Creation, which runs from September 1 to October 4 – the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi – began in 1989 and, in the years since, has been embraced by Christian churches around the world. With the publication of Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’, care of our common home has come even more into the public view.

For this Season of Creation, the Benedictines of the Monastery of the Immaculate Conception at Kylemore Abbey offer this calendar, featuring quotes from Laudato Si’, Laudate Deum, St. Francis’ Canticle of the Creation, the Rule of St. Benedict and other Benedictine sources as brief daily meditations on the importance of joining together to preserve our planet for present and future generations.

Using the link above, the calendar can be printed or downloaded, and the Benedictine community hopes it will be used to bring awareness of humanity’s connectedness to all God’s marvelous creation.
