Your words, Lord, are spirit and life (Psalm 18).
Luke opens his Gospel with statements attesting to its accuracy and veracity. As he says in his first sentence, many accounts were drawn up of the events surrounding Jesus’ life and death and handed down by eyewitnesses and ministers of the word. Luke examines these accounts carefully and writes an ordered account of the whole story from the beginning. He does this so that Theophilus and we believers two thousand years later, can learn how well founded this received teaching is.
Let us thank God for the truth of the Gospels we have received. Gospel truth feeds our minds and spirit throughout our whole life and leads us unto life everlasting. Praise God.
